SRINAGAR: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan today interacted with the representatives of business community and lauded their efforts and cooperation in fighting against COVID-19 pandemic.

Hailing the gesture of the business community in fight against the pandemic, the Advisor asked them to generate awareness regarding importance of social distancing and adherence of guidelines and advisories related to the prevention of the COVID-19.

During the meeting, the representative apprised the Advisor about various issues including package for 2.5 lake registered artisans, restoration of Sonwar Bund breach and repair and restoration of houseboats.

The business delegation also raised the issue of water shortage in some areas of Srinagar due to breakdown in the Mal Shahi Bagh canal. The representative also demanded that at least 100 grocery stores should remain open in the Srinagar City so that people will not face shortage of essential items.

The Advisor assured them that all their genuine issues will be resolved at earnest. He directed the concerned for speeding up the work on Mal Shahi Bagh canal project on war footing.

He also directed that Deputy Commissioner Srinagar will monitor restoration work at Sonwar Bund breach so that people will not face any inconvenience.

Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Pandurang K. Pole, Director Industries & Commerce, Mahmood A Shah, representative of Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry, House Boat Owners Association, Hotel & Restaurant Owners Federation and Kashmir Chemists and Druggists Association were present in the meeting.
