COVID-19: Kashmir residents make own masks to battle shortage of protective gear

Baramulla: While the doctors continue to be on the frontline of Covid-19 fight, a doctor at Public Health Center (PHC) apart from discharging his duties distributes masks, sanitizers among the needy and poor patients.

Dr. A. M Bhat (name changed on his request) has so far distributed five thousand masks and hundreds of bottles of hand sanitizers purchased for the needy and poor patients and the staff he works with in the PHC Sheeri.

Bhat says, “Patients visiting this hospital hardly realize the benefits of masks and hand sanitizers. While making them aware about the importance of masks and hand hygiene I provide them free masks and sanitizers as they can’t buy it from open market.”

He added that there is shortage of face masks and hand sanitizers in the market.
