Commissioner SMC, Gazanfar Ali, said that SMC is installing such tunnels at various hospitals and so far these tunnels have been installed each at CD hospital, LD hospital, GB Panth, JVC and two tunnels at SMHS for decontamination and sanitization.

Besides, the sanitization of various areas by the Corporation is a regular affair to contain spread of COVID, he said.

Meanwhile, SMC today decontaminated Eidgah and its adjacent areas, which was declared red zone after COVID positives cases were detected from the area.

The service of mechanized decontamination vehicles and special teams of workers was pressed to sanitize the areas to mitigate COVID spread. The sanitization drive was conducted in various areas including Shaeed Mazar raod, Heavan colony, Sheikh Hamzah colony, Shah Hamdan colony and Rathpora.

Besides, various masjids falling in the area including Chinar masjid, Shoda masjid, Madina masjid, masjid Mustafa, masjid Saheed-e-Milat, masjid Bilal and masjid Hamdan were also sanitized.

During the drive, the sanitization chemicals were sprayed in the area as a preventive measure to break the chain of coronavirus transmission.

Later, sanitization drive was also conducted in Tengpora, where a person was tested positive of COVID.
