Dist admin Ganderbal distributes free ration

GANDERBAL: In view of lockdown to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 outbreak, the process of free ration distribution among poor families of the district Ganderbal and the seasonal labourers, who have come from different parts of country started here today.

Deputy Commissioner, Shafqat Iqbal distributed free ration kits to various poor, needy, destitute families and labourers at Buderkund and Bamlura. ADC Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmad Baba and Tehsildar Ganderbal were also present on the occasion.

District administration Ganderbal has framed a comprehensive plan for smooth distribution of free ration among poor families and labourers.

It was informed that free ration will be distributed by the Tehsil Committee comprising of Tehsildar, BDO, SHO and Sarpanch/ concerned Ward member among as many as three thousand poor families and about 426 migrant labourers who are presently residing in the district.

The DC also expressed gratitude to the people for observing total lockdown as a move to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 outbreak. The lockdown has been imposed as a precautionary measure to combat the threat of virus by maintaining social distance and adopting other related advisories.

DC said sufficient stock of all essential commodities are available in the district and viable mechanism has been formulated wherein the public distribution of essentials shall be made at the consumer’s door step so that public gatherings are avoided and social distancing protocol maintained.

DC also visited the District Health Control Room established at CMO Office Ganderbal and inspected the functioning of the control room. He appreciated the staff and urged them to maintain proper record of every call received at the control room and the action taken report on each and every query.
