4G services not to be restored in J&K
No relief on communication front
Srinagar: While people from almost all sections of the society from Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir have been pressing for restoration of 4G internet services, UT’s Home department today said that the services would not be restored yet.
In an order issued by Shaleen Kabra, Principal Secretary to the Government, Home Department, it was said that “…in the interest of the sovereignty and integrity of India, the security of the State and for maintaining public order the mobile internet speed shall be restricted to 2G only.”
The order further said that this 2G service too will be available to post paid sim card holders.
“the aforesaid directions shall be effective immediately and remain in force upto April 03, 2020, unless modified earlier,” reads the order.
It is pertinent to mention here that students, medicos, traders and other sections of the society have been pleading for restoration of 4G in the wake of the spread of deadly coronavirus.
All most all political parties including National Conference, Peoples Conference, PDP, BJP, Congress, CPI(M) and Apni Party too have been asking the administration to restore the services.
