PDA organizes plantation drive cum awareness programme

PAHALGAM, March 13: Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA) in collaboration with Lidder Forest Division Range Pahalgam organized Plantation Drive Cum Awareness Programme on Plantation, here today.

During the program, organized in Pahalgam Club, the experts and students from different schools highlighted the importance of plantation for pollution free environment and for maintaining the ecological balance.

A skit regarding environment consciousness was presented by the students, on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, ADDC Anantnag, Khawaja Nazir Ahmad, who was the chief guest, said that need of the hour is to be practical in saving the planet from all sorts of pollution. He said that every individual should play his role in keeping the environment clean and urged the participants to plant trees.

He added that government and general public have to work together and take appropriate measures for healthy and pollution free environment. He asked the students to act as ambassadors to create mass awareness among their families regarding the importance of plantation for sustenance of the life.

CEO Pahalgam Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone presented the vote of thanks and said that efforts will be made by PDA to save the trees and to make Pahalgam pollution and plastic free tourist destination.

On the occasion, the students and officers were awarded with certificates and mementoes for generating awareness regarding importance of plantation among general public.

Among others present on the occasion include ADC Anantnag, Gh Hassan Sheikh, CEO PDA, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone, ACR Anantnag, Syed Yasir Kubravi, CEO Anantnag, SDPO Pahalgam and other officers.

Later a Plantation drive was organized in which the students and other dignitaries planted the saplings.
