Covid-19 threat: DC Anantnag asks people not to panic, take preventive measures

ANANTNAG, MARCH 13: Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Bashir Ahmad Dar in a message has advised people of the district not to be panic, instead take preventive measures, as prevention is better than cure and adhere to the instructions being given by the Health Department.

He appealed people to refrain from unnecessary travel and gathering. He added that, so far District Anantnag is safe from the infection and will remain so with the coordination of the people.

He said that special teams have been constituted at District, Block and Zonal levels to monitor the situation, besides isolation wards have been made available in district hospital.

With regard to the people who have recently returned from the affected countries and those who have performed the Umrah recently, are being monitored, the DC said.

To build up a robust and comprehensive response system against the spread of corona virus, Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Shopian Muazzam Ali, today sensitized driver and commuters at different Sumo and Bus stands.

The team led by the ARTO educated the drivers and commuters about precautionary measures to be taken which can help in containing spread of this infectious disease.

The ARTO urged them to wash hand frequently, avoid touching eyes noise and mouth, covering mouth while sneezing and to maintain social distance.

On the occasion, masks, sanitizers and hand wash liquid soaps were distributed among the drivers.
