The DDC Jammu, who is also the Chairman of CBYTE, elaborated that the idea of C-BYTE was to equip the border youth, who are motivated towards joining Indian defence forces, with necessary physical and mental skills, thereby facilitating their recruitment into the armed forces.

She applauded the efforts of the instructors and staff for imparting quality training to the boys and also wished best to another 80 boys who are going to appear in written test for BSF.

DDC added that five centres for medically fit border youth were opened in border blocks of Arnia, R S Pura, Marh, Akhnoor and Khour which are working to enhance the academic ability and physical endurance of the enrolled youth. A total of 70 trainees are inducted in each centre after medical examination and are trained for 3 months without paying any fees for the training period, she further added.

So far, more than 2700 boys have been trained in 12 batches beginning January, 2016 and 312 selections have been made in Armed/Defence forces.13th batch with a combined strength of 155 boys will be completing the course in March, 2020.

It is pertinent to mention that C-BYTE centres were set by Jammu district administration in 2016 to impart relevant physical and academic training to youth of border areas who desired to seek entry into Armed forces. An initiative for skill development of border youth, it was started under the Border Area Development Programme of MHA.
