DDC inaugurates Mega Kisan Mela in Bandipora

Urges farmers to avail benefit of flagship programs

BANDIPORA, MARCH 03: The Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza today inaugurated Mega Kisan Mela at Sher-e- Kashmir Stadium Bandipora under centrally Sponsored Scheme National Mission on Agriculture Extension and Technology (ATMA).

Scores of farmers participated in the Kissan Mela during which they were acquainted about modern farming techniques.

Scientists from KVK Bandipora and officers of the department shared information with the participating farmers about modern techniques to be adopted in Crop Husbandry, Apiculture, Mushroom Cultivation, Kitchen gardening and backyard poultry rearing. They were also informed about various Centrally Sponsored Schemes of agriculture sector and incentives available under these schemes.

The allied departments installed stalls to highlight their contribution and to inform the people about their schemes.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC termed agriculture as the backbone of the country’s economy and appealed all the participating farmers to come forward and avail the technical knowhow which is being provided to them by the department through qualified agriculture technocrats. He visited the stalls set up by the department and allied sectors and interacted.

Earlier, Chief Agriculture Officer Bandipora urged the farmers to adopt the High-tech farming to boost agriculture production including Mushroom Cultivation, Bee Keeping, Vegetable and Flower Cultivation.

Among others present in the mela were Officers & officials of the Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries departments.
