Inter-College Sports Festival begins at Poonch

POONCH, FEBRUARY 25: A seven day Inter-college Sports festival commenced today here at Sports Stadium, witnessing participation of 36 Teams of 4 degree Colleges of Poonch, Surankote, Mandi and Mendhar.

The week long Sports festival was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Yadav in presence of Principal GDC Poonch Prof. Tajinder Singh; Principal GDC Surankote, Prof. M.H Shah; Dr. Jasbir Singh; Dr. Shamim Banday; Prof. Fateh Mohammad Abassi; Prof. Mohd. Azam and other concerned officers.

On the day of inauguration, competitions were held in Kabaddi, Cricket, Football, Kho Kho, Badminton, Hockey, Tug of war, Tabel Tennis and Volleyball. The participating students displayed high quality of sportsmanship.

The DC lauded the efforts of Higher Education Department in general and Government Degree College Poonch in particular for providing students much needed platform, where they can exhibit their talent and excel in the field of sports.

Convener of the Festival, Jasbir Singh congratulated the entire management of the festival and student fraternity for keeping pace with the requirements of the present times. He said the winning teams of different streams will get opportunity to Play matches at Zonal level.
