First ever winter games commence at Singhpora Chhatroo, Kishtwar

KISHTWAR, FEBRUARY 23: The first ever Winter games in the sports history of Kishtwar district, organised by Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, today commenced at village Singhpora of tehsil Chattroo.

Additional District Development Commissioner, Mohd Hanieef Malik, inaugurated the event with flagging off events of cross country race and snow sledging.

SDM Chattroo, Inderjeet Parihar and other officers and officials besides prominent citizens were present on the occasion.

These games are being organised under the supervision of Divisional Sports Officer, Ravi Singh.

These winter games will be the blend of nature’s beauty with human’s talent which may result in the creation of new era of opportunities to be availed by people of Kishtwar in general and locals in particular in the field of business and tourism. These events will attract the sports person from and outside of the state to choose Kishtwar as the winter sports destination in future years to come.

The event will include activities like snow sledging, snow man making and cross country of 10 km.

About 40 participants took part in snow sledging on the snow plateau near Singhpora and Malikpoora villages of Chattroo and 48 athletes took part in 10 km cross country whereas over 50 participants will be taking part in snow man making competition tomorrow.
