Advisor Khan inaugurates weeklong NIC at Jammu University

Attends celebration of World Thinking-cum-Foundation Day of BSG

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 22: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor Farooq Khan today inaugurated a weeklong National Integration Camp (NIC) 2020 of National Service Scheme (NSS) here at Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu.

The camp, being organized by Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, NSS Regional Directorate, in collaboration with the Office of Programme Coordinator, NSS, University of Jammu, was launched in presence of Vice Chancellor University of Jammu, Manoj Kumar Dhar; Regional Director of Directorate NSS, New Delhi DrSatinder Kumar; Programme Coordinator NSS, J&K, Prof. Neeru Gupta and others.

Speaking on the occasion, Advisor Khan said the NSS volunteers act as ambassadors of national integration where they interact, mix-up and share ideas with participants from other regions of India. He said these national integration camps are greatly helping the young people of the country to  prepare themselves  for service of the nation.

“These volunteers  will definitely be going to participate in growth and development of the nation with soul aim of delivering community service irrespective of religion, cast, creed color or region,” Advisor Khan said.

VC, University of Jammu, Manoj K Dhar; Regional Director of Directorate NSS, New Delhi Dr. Satinder Kumar, Programme Coordinator NSS, J&K and Prof Neeru Gupta also spoke on the occasion.

Meanwhile, NSS teams from States and UTs presented their respective folk and traditional dances.

About 200 NSS Volunteers and 20 Programme Officers from around ten States and Union Territories of India are participating in the camp. The event would cover a range of cultural, academic and yoga related activities which will last for seven days.

Meanwhile, Advisor Khan also attended the celebration of World Thinking-cum-Foundation Day of Bharat Scouts and Guides at Gandhi Nagar.

Speaking on the occasion, the Advisor urged the Scouts and Guides to optimally utilize the training and education they get in the organization for larger interest of the society. “BSG are working with dedication while inculcating immense values, ideals of nationalism and patriotism with main focus on environment, religious harmony and moral education in children,” Advsior Khan asserted.

He added that the training to Scouts and Guides will help the children become better citizens besides providing basic education to provide selfless services to their country.

On the occasion, Director General Youth Services and Sports, DrSaleem-ur-Rehman; State Commissioner BSG, I D Soni and other officials addressed the Scouts and Guides gathering.

The Scouts and Guides from different schools also presented various cultural programmes on the occasion.
