SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 19: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary Wednesday convened a meeting to review the arrangements for the Mahashivratri festival scheduled to be celebrated this Friday.

Officers of concerned line departments who were present in the meeting briefed the DC about the arrangements their respective departments have made to ensure smooth celebrations of the festival in the district.

The power department informed the meeting that it has devised a curtailment-free schedule for identified areas where Pandits reside in the district.

The Fisheries department informed that adequate fish have been made available across the district at both static and mobile outlets ahead of the festival.

The DC also asked other concerned departments to ensure availability of other required facilities. He was informed that in addition to essential commodities including food grains and fuel concerned departments have made arrangements for easy availability of vegetables and dried fruit for the occasion of the festival.

Dr Shahid directed for ensuring the best possible facilities at the Shankaracharya temple in particular where major congregations of devotees for special payers are held during the festival.
