Chaudhary asks players to work hard for winning big titles

UDHAMPUR, FEBRUARY-12:- Principal Secretary Higher and Technical Education, Navin K. Chaudhary today declared open a 4-day sports fest-2020 here at Government Degree College.

“Sports are integral constituent of the curriculum which develops physical and mental fitness to the players and help in their holistic development” said Principal Secretary Higher and Technical Education, Navin K. Chaudhary after inaugurating the sports event.

He emphasized upon the players to work hard, never give up and bounce back with new zeal for winning titles in the sports of their interest.

Lauding the leadership role of Principal of the college, Prof. Nutan K. Resutra, and his dedicated staff for taking lead in organizing various curricular and extra –curricular activities for the all-round personality development of the students, he assured of all necessary help required for the further strengthening of college sports infrastructure.

District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Dr. Piyush Singla was the guest of honor and Rajiv Omparkash Pandey, Senior Superintendent of Police Udhampur and Director Technical Education were special guests in the program.

Around 53 teams drawn from different colleges of Jammu Division are taking part in the mega event and fight for titles in various games.

Earlier, the program began with the formal welcome address by College Principal Prof. Nutan K. Resutra. He highlighted various achievements of the college in sports and academics. He briefed to the guests about various activities and program college has at hand in the days to come.

A magnificent guard of honor by NCC cadets of the college and participating teams was presented to the chief guest on the occasion.

An exhibition match in Tug of War was also played between the girl teams of GDC Reasi and GDC Udhampur.   GDC Reasi outplayed GDC Udhampur in straight two sets.

Amit Sharma from Department of Youth Services and Sports’ and Dr. Rippy Bawa conducted the proceedings of the program while Prof. Suresh Kumar Dogra presented vote of thanks on the occasion.

Later, Principal Secretary also planted ‘Nagkesar’ plant sapling in the College Botanical Garden and also inaugurated one ‘Smart Class Room.’

Among others present at the inaugural event were renowned litterateur and Novelist and Padma Shri awardee Prof. Shiv Nirmohi; Principal GDC Ramnagar, Desh Bandu Dogra “Nutan” and Principal GCW Udhampur, Dr. Udhey Bhanu.
