Srinagar, Jan 30: Khidmat Centre operators affiliated with Jammu and Kashmir Bank Thursday sat on a sit-in outside bank headquarters at TRC here to press for their regularization.

Protesting Khidmat centre operators engaged in phases since 2009 said the former Chairman of J&K Bank in a meeting last year assured that a suitable job policy will be framed for their regularization but nothing of the sort happened till date.

Operators who were engaged to collect monthly electricity and telephone bills through Khidmat centres across valley said their continuous efforts for regularization proved futile as the authorities have failed to formulate a concrete job policy for them.

Protesters said they will hold ‘dharna’ at Delhi’s Jantarr Mantar and outside Mumbai stock exchange incase their genuine demand was not fulfilled at earliest.

“We were assured by the then Chairman, Parvez Ahmad during a meeting last year that a suitable job policy will be framed for Khidmat centre operators soon, it has been a year now no concerted effort was made by the bank authorities to resolve our long pending demand thus far,” said Tassaduq Hussain, President  JK Bank Khidmat Centre Operators Association

He said the operators engaged since 2009 to run Khidmat Centers in the valley are highly qualified, however their concerns vis-à-vis job are yet to be recognized by the authorities.

Hussain said many of them have attained the age of superannuation without getting permanent in Jammu and Kashmir Bank.

“Isn’t this exploitation with hundreds of highly qualified youth who performed their duties with sincerity over the past more than ten years? We will be holding sit-in at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and outside Mumbai stock exchange incase our demand is ignored,” threatened he.
