RAJOURI, AUGUST 03: Advisor to Governor K Vijay Kumar was the chief guest at the inaugural function of Government Medical College Rajouri with commencement of the classes of first batch of MBBS.

K. K. Sharma and K Skandan, Advisors to Governor, Atal Dulloo, Financial Commissioner, Government Health and Medical Education, MLC Vibodh Gupta, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Yougal Manhas, Senior Superintendent of Police, Yashpal Sharma Direction Coordination GMCs, Kuldeep Singh, Principal GMC, senior officers of civil and police administration were present at the inaugural function.

Vijay Kumar while addressing the students advised them to wear their aprons with pride. “You have entered into a life saving profession and challenging profession. Accept the challenge and work hard. Your education is vital for empowerment of the society,” he said.

Terming the teaching faculty as a storehouse of knowledge, he stressed on imparting quality education and said that an efficient teaching faculty shall be provided in the college.

Advisor K K Sharma in his speech lauded the efforts of District Administration and Principal Medical College for making efforts to start the classes.

He said it is the time of celebration for public of Rajouri as the college will change the dynamics of the district. He assured all possible help in providing quality education to the students. He said Governor’s administration is committed towards providing quality education to the students.

Advisor K Skandan also congratulated the MBBS students and advised the students to strive hard towards excellence and bring laurels to their parents, community and the state.

While addressing students, he said today is the era of technological revolution and acquiring knowledge is not difficult. He advised them to make best use of the technology and leave impression for the rest of the batches to come. He said the college and associate hospital would benefit the population of three districts – Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi.

Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education, Atul Dulloo extended heartiest congratulations to the newly enrolled MBBS students and faculty members of the College.

Terming the inauguration of the college as a milestone towards healthcare infrastructure of District Rajouri and Poonch, he said Governor’s administration desires to make all the newly sanctioned Government Medical Colleges functional and today four out of five are fully functional and classes have been started.

He said sufficient funds will be released to DH Rajouri for purchase of machinery and other equipment. He also announced that DNB course and BSc in paramedical will be started in Rajouri GMC&AH.

In his welcome lecture, Principal GMC informed that the sanctioned cost of the project (GMC &AH) which is undergoing at Nagrota, Rajouri is Rs 139 crore. He also informed that the work on the digital library as well as to make the campus Wi-Fi is under progress and would be completed at the earliest.

The Hippocratic oath ceremony was also held on the occasion during which the students pledged to work with dedication towards the larger interest of the society. The oath was administered by the Director Coordination GMCs Yashpal Sharma.

District Development Commissioner, Rajouri, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, presented vote of thanks to the Advisors and Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education for gracing the occasion and encouraging the young and budding doctors with their valuable words.
