Put a stop to shock therapy in Kashmir: Tarigami to New Delhi

Srinagar, July 30: CPI (M) leader Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami Tuesday asked the Governor Administration to clear confusion over the government orders which have deepened uncertainty in Kashmir in the last few days.

Today the Governor said that ‘government’ orders being circulated on social media which created rumor mongering in Kashmir from past few days were invalid.

“Governor sahib needs to clarify whether it is a rumor that 100 companies of additional companies of paramilitary forces are being deployed in Kashmir? One of his Advisor is saying “the deployment was a deliberate and calculated response to the need of security grid,” while the Governor says the ‘government’ orders being circulated on social media in Kashmir from past few days were invalid,” said Tarigami in a statement.

He said, is it only a rumor, that another order directing police in Srinagar to collect details of management committees of masjids, has been issued? And are such other orders issued in the recent days also rumors?

“Government needs to clear this confusion. If they claim one of the orders has been issued to take masjid committees into confidence to check the drug menace, is the menace limited to Srinagar only and why this urgency now. If government wants to check drug abuse, they should have also taken civil society members into confidence,” he said.

He said, people are already in distress and stress due to ongoing violence. There was need for confidence-building-measures to come out of this cycle of disillusionment and depression. Why this shock therapy time-and-again?
