Srinagar, July 30: The Department of Urdu, University of Kashmir is organising a Two Day National Seminar on “Hamidi Kashmiri-Shayar Aur Adeeb” which will begin from, August 06, 2019 at EMMRC Auditorium, University of Kashmir.

Late Prof Hamidi Kashmiri is a renowned named amongst the acclaimed poets, writers and educationists of Kashmir, who has served as former Vice Chancellor, University of Kashmir as well.

Credited with 50 published books on various literary perspectives, Hamidi Kashmiri was honoured by the fourth highest civilian award of the country -Padma Shri award and other awards like Sahitya Academy Award and Ghalib Award.

The seminar would witness presence of some of the most prominent personalities in Urdu Language including Prof. Shafeeqa Parveen former Director, Directorate of Distance Education, University of Kashmir, notable poet and media personality Farooq Nazki, and Prof. N.M. Kanwal from Department of Urdu, Delhi University and participation from the scholar community and faculty members from various universities within the country.

Hamidi Kashmiri left for heavenly abode last year on 27th Dec, 2018 and the seminar would be an accolade to his distinguished contributions in Urdu literature. The event is partially supported by Meezan Publishers.
