Sopore, July 29: Residents of Warpora village in Sopore staged a protest demonstration on Monday morning against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department for failing to solve the water crisis in their area.

Scores of men and women of Raj Mohalla of Warpora village blocked the Bandipora-Sopore road on and shouted slogans against the PHE department.

“The Public Health Engineering (PHE) department has failed to restore water supply in our area which has led to huge crisis. We are being compelled to travel several kilometers to fetch drinking water,” said Ali Mohmmad a local resident.

When contacted Executive Engineer PHE Department Sopore, Mushtaq Ahmad, said: “Due to non-availability of electricity, we could not the lift water from Watlab.”

“The water supply will be restored in coming days,” he added.
