Dept of Linguistics KU holds first ever alumni meet

Srinagar, July 26: The Department of Linguistics, University of Kashmir (KU) organized a day-long alumni meet at the Auditorium Hall of the Humanities Block KU  which was the first meet of its kind organized by the department since its establishment.

The meet was attended by around 200 alumni including the faculty, research scholars and students of the department.

Vice Chancellor KU Prof Talat Ahmad  was the Chief Guest at  the inaugural session while as Dr. Nisar Ahmad, Registrar KU was the Guest of Honour.

Prof Talat congratulated the department of Linguistics for organizing its maiden alumni meet and encouraged the department to hold such meetings in future also.

He stressed on creating alumni directories and also made it a point to create alumni associations at the institutional level also.

Dr Nisar Ahmad Mir, Registrar KU while speaking on the occasion, congratulated the department on organizing its first alumni meet. Dr. Mir highlighted the importance of holding alumni meets on regular basis.

Prof. Aejaz Mohammed Sheikh, Head, Department of Linguistics, KU formally welcomed the guests and highlighted the achievements of the department.

Many alumni of the department also spoke in the inaugural session and paid tribute to the department by crediting it with the success they have achieved.

There was also an entertainment session in which the students of the department performed many programmes including a skit and cultural program.

The programme concluded with the distribution of mementos among the participants.
