Saurabh Baghat reviews functioning of PMSYM Scheme in J&K

SRINAGAR, JULY 23: Commissioner Secretary, Labour and Employment, Saurabh Baghat today took a review of Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojna (PMSYM) to discuss awareness among labourers/workers in various government departments.

The meeting was attended by all the line departments including Social Welfare Department, Rural Development Department, Works Departments, Labour Department and other departments including representative from LIC.

Baghat stressed upon these departments to aware the labour force/ honorary workers engaged in these departments about the PMSYM scheme so that these eligible unorganized workers can get themselves registered under the scheme for getting the benefit of pension after attaining the age of 60 years.

The meeting was informed that the workers in their concerned departments are being sensitized about the scheme and accordingly get them registered under the scheme.

The Commissioner Secretary directed the officers of all the concerned departments to look into the figures so that a conclusive figure is drawn out and sensitization/awareness programmes for these labours is chalked out.

He said the scheme is as good as New Pension Scheme for all the officers/officials employed after 2010 where the contribution is made by the officers/officials for his pension and this scheme is more transparent and flawless.

He said the there is need to guide the workers about the scheme before they cross the eligibility age, directing the officers to share the data of their workers as early as possible for informing the higher authorities as well.

The meeting was attended by Director Employment, Labour Commissioner, Director Social Welfare Kashmir, Director Integrated Child Development Services, Chief Executive Officer, J&K BOCWWB and other concerned officers.
