Srinagar: Husband and wife duo was arrested for drug supply offences and contraband substance was recovered from their possession.

A police spokesman said that a checkpoint was established near Arwani Crossing and a husband-wife duo identified as Farooq Ahmad Bhat and his wife Haseena residents of Hyder colony Sopore was arrested. Police recovered charas from their possession and both were taken to Police Station Bijbehara where they remain in custody.

Case FIR No. 104/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation initiated in the matter.

Meanwhile, Police arrested one drug peddler from Srinagar at a checkpoint, contraband substance charas has been recovered from his possession.

The drug peddler arrested at a ckeckpoint established at Batamaloo, was identified as Mohd Altaf Rather son of Mohd Akbar Rather resident of  Panzan Chadoora. 650 gms of charas and cash amount Rs.19150 was recovered from his possession, a police spokesman said.

Accordingly case FIR No. 64/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered in the instant matter.
