New Delhi, Jul 19 :  With the BJP gearing up for organisational polls, its president Amit Shah on Friday appointed veteran party leader Radha Mohan Singh as the in-charge of a panel to oversee the elections, the party said in a statement.

He will be assisted by three other party leaders; Lok Sabha member Vinod Sonkar, former MP Hansraj Ahir and C T Ravi, a Karnataka MLA, it said.

Singh is an MP from Bihar. He was a Union minister in the first term of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government.

The organisational polls are likely to begin next month after the party’s membership drive is over.

Speculation is rife that Shah may opt out of the party post following his induction in the Union Cabinet as the home minister. The party has not made any official comment on such a possibility.

The exercise will take five-six months to get over, sources said.
