Gyal Wangyal inaugurates pedestrian friendly pilot Chanspa road

LEH, JULY 16: Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor (CEC), LAHDC, Leh Gyal P Wangyal today inaugurated the pedestrian friendly Chanspa road in presence of Deputy Commissioner, Leh Avny Lavasa and President, Municipal Committee, Leh Dr Ishey Namgyal.

The half kilometer Chanspa road has been given a face-lift under Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Town (UIDSSMT) at the cost of Rs 1.45 crores.

SSP, Leh Sargun Shukla, Addl. District Development Commissioner, Leh Moses Kunzang, SE, PWD, MC Ward Member Chanspa Deldan Gawa Otsal, district officers and engineers of PWD were present on the occasion.

The CEC said that this road is of first its kind in Leh district which has been developed in a pedestrian friendly way keeping in view of heavy tourist traffic in the area. Chanspa is a tourist hub, CEC said and adding that it will further help to boost tourism in the area and urged upon to strictly follow one-way traffic rule for better comfort of the pedestrians. Gyal appreciated the engineers for a well-thought road design and for execution.
