JAMMU, JULY 16: Director Horticulture Jammu, Raj Kumar Katoch conducted extensive tour of District Ramban and inspected High Density Apple Plantation at Fruit plant Nursery Nagam, Banihal along with other components like piped water distribution system, working shed etc.

During the tour he exhorted upon walnut grafting and laying focus on walnut and high density apple plantation.

He also visited Advance Centre for Development of Horticulture Ramban (ACHD). He was briefed about the working of the Centre where elite quality fruit plants especially Kiwi, olive, strawberry, grafted walnut etc are being propagated. At an average 1.5 to 2 lac plants are being raised every year and are distributed to the farmers of Jammu division

He inspected Hi-Tech houses installed at ACHD where olive, kiwi, pomegranate and pecan nut plants are being produced under controlled atmospheric conditions besides insect proof net house where pomegranate plants are propagated under Anardana Village. He emphasized on improving the quality and production of Horticultural crops to make the sector more vibrant for generating employment avenues. He directed the staff members to work hard for the betterment of farming community for improving their socio economic status.

Director Horticulture Jammu was accompanied by Chief Horticulture Officer Ramban Mukesh Sharma, Farm Manager ACHD Rajesh Dhar, HDO Varinder Sharma and HDO Brij Pal.
