DLSA Anantnag organises Inter-Zone Competition on “Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse”

ANANTNAG, JULY 12: District Legal Services Authority Anantnag today organised an Inter-Zone Competition on “Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse” at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Anantnag today.

48 students from 12 zones of district Anantnag participated in the competition and expressed their views on the topic through essays and poetry. Secretary DLSA Anantnag Rafia Hassan Khaki said that the best performers from this competition will participate in the Inter district competitions.

Secretary DLSA Anantnag spoke in detail about the aims and objectives of the Inter-Zone Competition. She also spoke about the prevalence of Child Abuse including sexual abuse in society and emphasised that despite its huge prevalence, the violence against children remains often hidden, unseen and under-reported. She stressed upon the need to speak up and report the abuse, adding that there is nothing to be ashamed of for reporting the abuse and free legal assistance is available for the students and other victims of sexual abuse.

CEO Anantnag, in charge drug de-addiction centre Anantnag and retainer lawyer DLSA also spoke on the occasion.
