Jammu admin starts preparations for I-Day celebrations

JAMMU, JULY 10: District Administration Jammu has started preparation for Independence Day celebrations- the main function for which would be held at Parade Ground.

In this regard, Deputy Commissioner, Ramesh Kumar today discussed the arrangements here at meeting attended by senior functionaries of   key departments.

The meeting decided that the main function would be held at Parade Ground, while rehearsal for variety show and March Past would be started from August 5, 2019.

The Deputy Commissioner assigned the arrangements to each department and asked them to ensure that all necessary preparations are made well in time for the national event. He discussed arrangements of security, seating plan, installation of PAS, barricading, power, drinking water, invitation of guests, refreshment to school children, transport,  parking,  cultural activities, ambulances, Fire tender services, electricity, march past and other necessary arrangements.

The PHE department was asked for erecting barricading and making arrangements of drinking water, while the Fire Services department was asked to ensure availability of sufficient number of fire tenders to meet any eventuality.

The Municipal authorities were directed to ensure cleanliness in Jammu city especially in and around the Mini Stadium Parade. Similarly the Police and Traffic departments were asked to make security and traffic arrangements for the convenience of the general public. The Health Department was directed to ensure availability of ambulances and medical team at the venue.

The concerned departments were asked to make   arrangements    for transportation, refreshments and accommodation of the participants during the period of rehearsals.

The DC laid stress on close coordination among the concerned departments for the smooth conduct of the function. He also instructed the concerned departments to ensure thorough maintenance of venue, cleanliness and proper parking facilities for the visitors.

ADC Jammu, SDMs South and North, CMO Jammu, CEO Jammu, Joint Director Municipal Corporation, senior functionaries of Army, PWD, PDD, PHE, Health and Police attended the meeting.
