DC Kargil conducts Public Darbar at Drass

KARGIL, JULY 10: Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary today convened a public darbar at Dak Bungalow Drass Kargil.

The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by SDM Drass Pawan Kotwal, District Panchayat Officer, Kargil Shabir Hussain, Executive Engineer I&FC, Executive Engineer PHE, Tehsildar Drass, engineers of various other divisions of the PWD besides other district and sub divisional officers.

Various delegations of people from Drass town and adjoining villages present in the public darbar apprised the DC about the problems and issues faced by them which mainly included the establishment of solid waste management plant, macadamization of roads, augmentation of water and power supply, repair and renovation of water supply schemes and irrigation khuls  besides other related demands.

The Deputy Commissioner took sector wise brief from the officers on the issues related to water supply schemes, power supply, Anganwadi centres, schools, roads, health centres, livestock, health care, ration supply and gave them on spot instructions for taking necessary measures for early grievance redressal.

Addressing the people on the occasion, the DC said that District Administration is fully conscious of the problems and issues being faced by the people especially those residing in rural and far off areas.

He gave a patient hearing to people’s issues and assured them that all their genuine demands and concerns would be redressed in a phased manner.

Regarding the demand for macadamization of the main road stretch in Drass town from Marpo Choo to Taxi Stand, the DC assured people that the road will be macadamized by BRO by 23rd of July, 2019.

He also assured people that requisite measures would be taken to streamline garbage disposal in Drass town. He said that a garbage disposal plant would be constructed in a time bound manner within 15 days with all required facilities like segregation process and garbage disposal van to ensure proper garbage disposal.

The DC said that the Administration is fully committed to mitigate the problems of the people and the camp has been organized with a view to helping people so that their grievances are mitigated in the shortest possible time.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner underlined the need to establish a mechanism of effective and efficient coordination between the administration and the people.

The DC stressed upon the district officers accompanying him to be responsive to the needs and issues projected by the people and to ensure that these are resolved in a time-bound manner.

He also asked the officers to conduct regular field visits to see the status of the implementation of various developmental activities in Drass area and get people’s feedback.

Meanwhile, the officers of Rural Development Department including the District Panchayat Officer (DPO), Kargil and Block Development Officer (BDO) Drass enlightened the public about various RD schemes like 14th FC, MGNREGA and PMAY etc.

Sarpanchs, Panchs, field functionaries of RD Department and villagers participated in the program.

During the Gram Sabha meeting held on the occasion various issues related to implementation of the development programmes and schemes of the Panchayat, identification of beneficiaries for different programmes and schemes and other related issues were discussed threadbare.
