DC Ganderbal flags off students for provincial level inter-district games

GANDERBAL, JULY 09: The Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Hashmat Ali Khan today flagged off a group of 48 students (boys under age group of 13, 17 and 19 years) representing different blocks of the district from Mini Secretariat Ganderbal to participate in a provincial level inter-district cricket tournament.

Organised by Joint Director Kashmir, Youth Service and Sports in district Anantnag, the tourney is starting from July 9th and will conclude on July 15th.

Similarly, a group of 36 students, girls under the age group of 13, 17 and 19 years were also flagged off to participate in provincial level inter-district Kho-Kho tournament being played in District Budgam.

Interacting with the participating students, DC said that physical activity helps in being physically and mentally fit and contributes to promoting a healthy society.

Hashmat Ali said that sports activities have a profound and significant impact on the social and mental development of our youth. He urged them to participate with more frequency in such competitions.

Stressing on the need to extend support and encouragement to the sports talent in the district, DC said that such competitions will play a decisive role in encouraging the local talent.
