Various culture troupes representing different parts of Kargil district participated in the cultural programmes. The cultural performances and the participation of the troupes were arranged by Art and Cultural organization Bodh Kharboo and Mendok Tsar Hardass.

Speaking at the event, Feroz Ahmad Khan appreciated the efforts taken by AIR Kargil to revive and preserve Purgi culture and language. “Purgi was dying as a language till the establishment of AIR Kargil. Many words that were not used off late, have now been revived and are used on a daily basis by the people of Kargil,” he added.

He illustrated the importance of AIR Kargil with the example of Purgi News. “Every day, people eagerly wait for Purgi news at 5.25 pm and 7.30 pm. Many a times, Purgi news becomes the sole lifeline for the people of remote areas such as Lungnak, Rangdum, Itchu, Mushkow etc during winter. The District administration uses Purgi news to communicate information about helicopter services and save precious lives,” he said. He urged officials to broadcast Purgi news and programme from DD Kashir and added that he intends to send an invite to the Director General of AIR to visit Kargil to get a first-hand experience of AIR Kargil’s performance and success on the ground.

Furthermore, he underlined the demand by many listeners to start morning broadcast from AIR Kargil, “This will benefit the people of Kargil as AIR Kargil is the only source of information and entertainment for many people in the district,” he added.

The CEC expressed satisfaction over the services provided by officials at AIR Kargil during extreme weather condition. He specifically named technician Mohammad Ali who worked at AIR Kargil since 1997, including the challenging phase of Kargil War. He assured everyone that he would fulfil the demand made by AIR Kargil and make sure that work for the construction of HPT Road in Kurbathang starts soon.
