Akbar Khan is champion MTB Kashmir-2019

Ganderbal, June 30: International cyclist Akbar Khan continues to dominate cycling arena in J&K. He trumped mountain biking race Mountain Bike (MTB) Kashmir 2019 with gold medal.

Although Akbar had no specialization in off road cycling but he still raced valiantly through tough mountain terrains from Ganderbal to Mamar Sonmarg.

The race was flagged off by former MlA Ganderbal, Ishfaq Jabbbar, from Madr -A- Meharban Ground Ganderbal . The race culminated at Mamar Sonmarg.

The trail of race was 40 KM through the majestic mountains. 50 mountain bikers from all over India competed in the race.

Parviaz Ahmad and Mohd Rafiq finished second and third respectively.

Speaking to Kashmir Images Gold medalist Akbar Khan said, “It was a challenging race for me. I competed with top notch players of mountain biking in Kashmir. Mountain biking has got lot of scope in Kashmir. We only need to tape it.”

One of the organiser of MTB Kashmir, Sheen Amin, said that he didn’t expect such an overwhelming response to the tournament. “Everyone has been helpful, especially tourism department and police. “It was a success and we are being encouraged to organize more such races,” Amin added.
