Soon after the incident, the officer said security forces launched a hunt to nab the assailants.

Police has taken cognizance of the incident and investigations have been taken up, the officer said.

In a similar incident late Saturday night, suspected militants barged into the house of Ali Muhammad Yatoo at his native village Nawnagri in Palpora area of the south Kashmir’s Pulwama district and fired upon him, a police official said.

He said Yatoo suffered injuries in his leg and was shifted to District Hospital Pulwama, from where he was shifted to SMHS Hospital in Srinagar.

His condition is stated to be stable, the official said.
