DG Social Welfare reviews progress of departmental schemes in Anantnag

ANANTNAG, JUNE 29: Director General (DG) Social Welfare Ruksana Gani today chaired a meeting at Dak Bungalow Khanabal to review Scheme Wise progress of Social Welfare department Anantnag.

The District Social Welfare Officer Dr Peerzada Farhat  Ahmad through a power point presentation informed the DG about the performance of the department and said that under ISSS, a total of 30413 beneficiaries are at present provided financial assistance at the rate of Rs 1000 per head per month. These include 8741 beneficiaries under OAP, 11810 under WID and 9862 under PSP. He also informed the meeting that under state Marriage Assistance Scheme 2073 cases of the district have been sanctioned out of which 1657 beneficiaries have been provided Marriage Assistance amounting to Rs 6.80 core up to the end of March, 2019. Furthermore, 415 cases are under the final phase of sanction.

The DG asked the officers to ensure people-friendly approach in their public dealings. She also asked for identifying the beneficiaries in consultation with PRI’s.

The DG also directed to ensure transparency in the department and to look into the complaints raised by the deserving people at various forums. She also directed the officers to identify the staff members to be imparted computer training.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Director Schemes, other officers from Directorate of Social Welfare and all Tehsil Social Welfare officers of the district Anantnag.

Later, the DG along with senior officers of the department visited District Social Welfare Office Anantnag, orphanage home at Mattan. She also visited Nanil and identified the 5 kanal land where an old age home and children home will be constructed.
