CEC calls on Principal Secy Home, H&UD, Planning Dev

SRINAGAR, JUNE 29:- Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor (CEC), LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan called on the Principal Secretary, Home Shaleen Kabra at the Civil Secretariat Srinagar and discussed various issues pertaining to Kargil district.

Among the issues discussed included the vacation of Kurbathang plateau and sanction of Women’s Police Station and IRP Battalion Headquarter in the district.

The CEC also met the Principal Secretary Housing and Urban Development Department Dheeraj Gupta and projected demand of funds for the necessary development of Kargil Town and the mini towns of Drass, Sankoo and Padum.

The Principal Secretary Housing and Urban Development Dheeraj Gupta asked the CEC to prepare DPRs for the development of parking facilities, children parks, street lights and public toilets and submit the same to the Government by July 20 so that funds are arranged from the State Sector.

He also said that separate proposals should be framed for development of the mini townships at Drass, Sankoo and Padum.

Later the CEC also called on the Principal Secretary Planning Development and Monitoring Department,  Rohit Kansal and took up with him the issue of early start of work on the expansion of Kargil airport.

He also urged the Principal Secretary for early opening of the Directorates for Ladakh Division

The Principal Secretary informed the CEC that the matter for expansion of Kargil Airport has already been taken by the State Government at the higher level and a team from the Airport Authority of India (AAI) has conducted its visit to take stock of the possibilities of expansion.

He further stated that followed by this team a technical team will also visit the district in the near future and a positive headway is expected in this regard.

The Principal Secretary further said that the establishment of Directorates for Ladakh Division is presently under process and the Government is seriously pursuing this job.

He said that the Government is keen to ensure the equitable development of Leh and Kargil and the Directorates will be equally distributed between the two districts.
