Srinagar, June 28:  A Prize distribution ceremony of Shaan-e-Ramadan -2019 was held at Gandhi Bhawan auditorium , University of Kashmir(KU) on Friday.

The event was organised by Department of Students Welfare (DSW) KU to felicitate the winners of various competitions which took place from 28th May to 30th May this year  during Shaan-e-Ramadhan festival.

Vice Chancellor University of Kashmir Prof Talat Ahmad who was chief guest of the occasion congratulated participants and the organizers for organizing such events which he said “ rejuvenates our faith and at the same time provides a platform to young students to showcase their talent.”

While referring to the recent performance of University during NAAC inspection Prof Talat added “I congratulate everyone from teachers to non teaching staff, from students to scholars for enabling the varsity to achieve A+ grade in recent NAAC visit. It’s a collective effort and I could not have done it alone.”

Registrar KU, Dr. Nissar Ahmad Mir who was the guest of honour on the occasion expressed his gratitude on being part of the prize distribution ceremony of Shaan-e- Ramadan.

Welcoming the guests and participants on the occasion Dean Students Welfare  KU Prof. Raies Qadri presented mementos to the volunteers and organisers of the festival.

On the occasion Prof Talat released ‘DSW  Panorama’ highlighting the activities of the department and also unveiled a  poster of ‘KU Talent Hunt 2019’  for which registrations are open now under which various events including poetry, extempore, debate, elocution, quiz, drama, skit, fine arts, folk music, western light music, Islamic calligraphy, Nasheed, Qawali and much more would be held.

Earlier, during the prize distribution ceremony  Basharat Hussain from Degree College Tral, Towseef Shabaan from Department of Arabic, KU, and Adil Akram from Govt. Degree College Pulwama bagged Ist, 2ND and 3rd prizes respectively in Azaan competition.

In Husne Qirat competition Tanveer Ahmad Bhat of Department from Arabic, KU, Mohammad Ismail Wani from Dept. of Persia and Umar Hameed bagged Ist, 2ND and 3rd prizes.

In Husne Naat competition Sameer Ahmad Shah of Amar Singh College, Heena Bano from SAM College Beerwah, Owais Sofi from Dept. of Music and Fine Arts  KU  bagged ist, 2ND and 3rd positions.

In Islamic Calligraphy  Iram  Malik from Music and Fine Arts KU, Zaira Shafi Shah from Govt. Degree College Nawakadal, Aneesa Noor from pharmaceutical Sciences, KU  bagged ist, 2ND and 3rd prize respectively.
