LEH, JUNE 27:  To cover entire Leh district including Leh town under scientific disposal /recycle garbage management system, the District Administration Leh decided to bring Municipal area of Leh town under the ambit of project “Tsangda.”

The project is being implemented by Rural Development Department (RDD) in the rural areas of Leh district.

Initially, the main market Nawoshar market will be covered under project “Tsangda” and the Municipal Committee (MC) Leh will be the implementing agency.

To sensitize and educate various stakeholders of MC Leh area about the project “Tsangda”, the RDD Leh under the direction of DC Leh Avny Lavasa from last one week is holding series of meetings with members of Municipal Committee Leh, officers and officials of MC Leh and shopkeepers, hoteliers of Leh market.

Today, a large number of business unit holders of Leh market headed by President Merchant Association Leh P. Wangyal, Councillor Khaltsi Lobzang Sharep attended a meeting in DC Conference Hall Leh where ADC, Leh Tsering Paldan and District Panchyat Officer Leh Zakir Hussain sensitized them about the project.

ACD Leh Paldan said that project “Tsangda” is the first ever waste segregation centre in Choglamsar and later will be extended to Diskit Nubra, Khaltsi, Nimoo, Pangong and Hunder where segregated garbage from the local residents and shops is collected and recycled.

A documentary film and play on project “Tsangda” made by Rural Development Department Leh was also showcased to the participants.
