Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) General Secretary Ghulam Nahi Lone Hanjura on Saturday expressed serious concern over the wide scale loss caused to orchards during the recent hailstorm in central Kashmir.

Hanjura in a statement said that the loss caused to horticulturists is massive and that the governor administration must access the losses and mitigate the affected people.

He said that besides plethora of areas of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal and Budgam, there various areas of Char-e-Sharief where the damage is massive and hailstorm has wrecked havoc at the large scale. Hanjura said the affected areas include Pakhar Pora, Dalvan, Fatli Pora, Chari Pora, Mohan Pora, Kar Pora, Shankar Pora, Zani Panchal, Kanidajan, Lolipora and several others.

Hanjura questioned the governor administration over the delay being done in the disbursement of the   already approved financial assistance to the farmers whose crops were damaged by the earlier hailstorm.  He urged the government to take on priority the assistance that needs to given to the farmers who have been bearing the brunt of hailstorms and unseasonal rainfall in Kashmir.
