GMC Anantnag organizes conference on Gastric Carcinoma

ANANTNAG, JUNE 20: Department of Surgery, Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag today organised a daylong conference titled ‘’Update on Gastric Carcinoma’’ at Dak Bungalow, Khanabal.

Principal GMC Srinagar Dr Kaisar Ahmed was chief guest on the occasion while as District Development Commissioner (DDC) Anantnag Khalid Jahangir was the guest of honour. The conference among others was attended by Professors, Assistant Professors and doctors from GMC Anantnag, SKIMS Srinagar, SKIMS Bemina, GMC Srinagar besides members of the organising committee.

DDC Anantnag Khalid Jahangir congratulated the GMC Anantnag for organising such a conference. He also said that Professors and Doctors of GMC Anantnag need to conduct massive awareness on change of dietary pattern in the South Kashmir, which can play a vital role in overcoming the rising trend of Gastric Cancers.

Speaking on the occasion, The Principal GMC Anantnag Prof.(Dr.) Showkat Ahmed Jeelani said that department of surgery GMC Anantnag and Associated hospitals have organised the conference in view of the increased prevalence of stomach cancers in the valley, particularly in South Kashmir. He sought cooperation from experts/professors of SKIMS and GMC Srinagar to arrest the rising trend of Gastric cancers. He also requested DDC Anantnag for Speedy completion of Administrative block, Lecture halls, Auditorium and other blocks so that GMC Anantnag can be made functional by the end of December 2019.
