It was further informed that road clearance work from Padum side is also being carried out in full swing and the highway is expected to be thrown open for vehicular traffic by tomorrow.

The SDM appreciated the snow clearance team for carrying out the snow clearance operations with all dedication and commitment despite inhospitable weather conditions.

He urged them to continue to work with the same commitment so that the highway is thrown open for traffic at the earliest possible.

Pertinently, at least 8 to 9 inches of snow accumulated on the highway due to the recent untimely snowfall.

Junior Engineer Mechanical Division Kargil informed the SDM that all possible efforts are being made to restore the highway as early as possible.

Meanwhile, the SDM along with other officers also met PRI members and public delegations at Parkachik and Tangole villages and listened to their issues and grievances.

The SDM assured people that all their genuine concerns would be taken up with the higher authorities for appropriate redressal.
