World Elder Abuse Day: DLSA Sgr organizes sensitization prog

SRINAGAR, JUNE 13: The District Legal Service Authority, Srinagar today organized a sensitization programme on Fostering Intergenerational Bonding in connection with the ‘World Elder Abuse Awareness Day’ at Boys Higher Secondary School, Shalimar.

The programme was part of the week-long campaign to observe ‘Ageing with Dignity’ awareness programme. The Camp was inaugurated by Secretary DLSA Srinagar, Adnan Sayeed in presence of students, teachers, officials from Judiciary and senior citizens.

The Secretary, DLSA Srinagar, said that the campaign is going on in all the districts of State on the directions of Chief Justice Jammu and Kashmir High Court, Justice Gitta Mittal.

“The aim of the programme is to strengthen the integration between generations and to facilitate interaction between the students and youth about the various hardships being faced by the elderly people and the ways and methods in mitigating them,” he added.

During the programme, he emphasized upon the officers to strictly implement the laws, rules and schemes which have been especially made for the benefit of the old-aged parents and senior citizens.

Later, a painting competition was held at the School which was also attended by the Senior Citizens who were part of the sensitization programme.
