District Convergence Plan under Poshan Abhiyaan of ICDS formulated in Budgam

BUDGAM, JUNE 13: Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Budgam today convened a meeting of District Task Force under Poshan Abhiyaan, also known as National Nutrition Mission which was presided over by District Development Commissioner, Budgam Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar at New Conference Hall Budgam.

The meeting discussed hygiene, promoting sanitation, pre-school education, supply chain management and associated aspects of the mission before its approval for implementation.

ADC Budgam, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, SDM Chadoora, Aziz Ahmad, ACD Budgam Waseem Raja participated in the meeting and put forward multifarious points of action for better implementation of the ICDS services.

DDC observed and emphasized on the importance of ICDS services particularly on the target population of children, lactating, pregnant women and adolescent girls. She said ICDS services have pivotal role to play in strengthening the scenario of women and child development and proper and better implementation of these is the need of the hour.

She directed concerned members to visit Aganwadi Centers (AWC)s at least once a month and asked Child Development Project Officers (CDPO), to spend more time in field for better monitoring. She also directed the concerned officials to conduct designated convergence activities on health and nutrition days, regular health checkups in schools and AWCs and surveys for infrastructural requirements in AWCs vis a vis toilets, drinking water, electricity etc.

Earlier during a Power Point presentation, it was pointed out that Poshan Abhiyaan  is a Convergence Mission to effect the coordination between different central and state government sponsored schemes and programmes including MGNREGA, Swach Bharat, JSK, NHM, PDS and other nutrition based initiatives targeting women and child population.

Implementation of Beti Bachoa Beti Padao, supply position of nutrition and others matters also came up in the meeting for discussion.

Among others the meeting was attended by CPO, SDMs, CMO , DEPO, DIO, DSWO, AD FCS&CA,  DPO, Dy.SP Headquarter,  Ex.EN PHE, CDPOs, and other concerned.
