Football fever is at its peak in entire Jammu and Kashmir particularly in Kupwara District. Around 200 football matches have been played last year in the Kupwara district.

Everyone is very much excited and waiting eagerly for this day-night competition.

Speaking to chief organizers, Abid Ahmad and Ishfaq Ahmad, of the tournament said that there is no denying the fact that many seasonal soccer tournaments are organised in such a way that their purpose do not go beyond time pass as they neither offer any suitable platform nor sufficient enthusiasm to the players required to cause excitement in them. “We may find it hard to face up to the fact that soccer in our times is losing its charm & elation not because our youth are more into other sports but because we fail to organise enthralling soccer events which could captivate the youth towards this great sport,” the organizers said.

“The whole credit goes to entire management body and other people who helped us to conduct this competition. On this occasion we have invited many guests from sports background & social activists,” they added.

Locals said that they are happy and waiting eagerly for the commencement of the tournament.

This will be the first of its kind tournament in Langate area of Kupwara. The inaugural match will be played on 11 June and the timing has been fixed 8pm; however, the names of the teams which will be participating in the inaugural match are yet to be announced.
