Chinar Corps Commander pays obeisance at Kheer Bhawani

Srinagar 10 Jun 2019.   The Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen KJS Dhillon today visited the Kheer Bhawani Temple at Tulmulla in Ganderbal District. The devotees of the Goddess Mata Ragnya Devi popularly known as Mata Kheer Bhawani, fast and gather here on the eighth day of the full moon in the month of May/ June.

The Chinar Corps Commander accompanied by Brig Usman Commander Rashtriya Rifles Sector participated in “Ashtmi Pooja” of Mata Ragnya Devi and shared the ‘Langar’ with the devotees. During his visit he also interacted with many locals who had volunteered cheerfully for this mega event. Speaking on the occasion the Chinar Corps Commander said that “Kheer Bhawani epitomises the spirit of Kashmiriyat and for centuries, it has been the focal point of universality, brotherhood and peace”.

Addressing the youth of Kashmir he also added “For the youth, Kashmir is a place of plenty, give up drugs and guns and focus on your education. Get the spirit of ‘Sufiism’ kindled and follow the footsteps of the great messengers of peace. Your life will get filled with happiness and contentment.” The annual mela is a perfect example of religious harmony that is so special to the Kashmiri culture.
