EMRE-III concludes ‘Inspection Week’

JAMMU, JUNE 08: The week-long inspection drive, launched by EMRE-III, Jammu to put a check on power theft, concluded today, logging over 2900 inspections, booking as many as 825 power defaulters, disconnecting more than 450 illegal connections and regularizing around 1866 KW illegal load.

Executive Engineer, EMRE-III, Jammu, Sanjay Sharma, said that the drive helped in gaining momentum in enforcement activities, his teams are now fully geared up to eradicate power theft from both rural as well as urban areas. He further added that such inspection drives will now be a regular feature and no one indulge in power theft will be spared.

Speaking about the ‘Inspection Week’, he informed that during the week long drive the total penal amount on the identified defaulters accumulating to the tune of Rs. 25.50 lakhs, which has been imposed/ included in the electricity bills of the erring consumers while also succeeding in spreading a message/apprehension amongst the public not to indulge in any act of power pilferage as the proactive enforcement squads may set their area as their next target for surveillance. He said that in total of 19 teams were constituted to conduct the inspection drive.

Chief Engineer, EMRE Wing, Jammu, Sudhir Gupta commended the efforts of the concerned Junior Engineers and other field staff for conducting massive inspections during the ‘Inspection Week in their respective Sub-divisions while encouraging them to contribute more proactively in such kind of drives. He also directed them all to further gear up rather double their efforts in eliminating power theft.
