SRINAGAR, JUNE 01: Advisor to Governor Khurshid Ahmad Ganai today directed the concerned departments to put in all the necessary arrangements in place so that people of the State can celebrate the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr with zeal and religious fervour and without facing any difficulty.

The meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, Divisional Commissioners of Jammu, Sanjeev Verma and Divisional Commissioner Ladakh Saugat Biswas through Video Conferencing.

Secretary Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Pandurang Kondbarao Pole,  IGP Traffic J&K, Alok Kumar, DIG Central Kashmir Range, V.K Birdi, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, SSP Srinagar, Haseeb Mughal, SP Traffic Srinagar, Tahir Gilani were also present in the meeting. Besides Chief Engineers of R&B, PHE and PDD, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Chief Executive Officer, J&K Wakf Board and other officers of Health and civil administration also attended the meeting.

The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir briefed the Advisor about the steps taken for Shab-i-Qadr, and for Eid festival. He said that traffic route plans, sanitation drives, availability of electricity, water and other basic amenities have been ensured.

Similarly the Divisional Commissioners of Jammu and Ladakh also apprised the Advisor about the arrangements made for Eid-ul-Fitr in their respective divisions.

Stressing upon the availability of essential commodities Ganai urged Secretary FCS&CA and IG Traffic to coordinate so that truckload of essential supplies reach valley to replenish the supplies of essential commodities before Eid.

Ganai gave instant directions to the officials to intensify the market-checking inspections so that the essential commodities remain readily available in the market. He enjoined upon Divisional administration of all the three divisions were instructed to ensure that there would be no complaints of over-pricing of essential commodities reported from anywhere.

He impressed upon the Deputy Commissioners of all the three divisions to make elaborate arrangements so that the people do not face any kind of inconvenience in their respective districts. Ganai asked them to make sanitation the hallmark on this religious festival.

Advisor Ganai stressed upon carrying out cleanliness drives around all the religious places where Eid prayers are to be offered. He asked the Municipal Commissioner to take extra measures for sanitation of places like Dargah Hazratbal, EidGah and other shrines in the city were large gatherings are expected.

The Legal Metrological Department was directed to constitute the market checking squads everywhere so that people do not suffer for want of essential commodities. He urged them that hoarding or black-marketing should be checked at any cost. He asked them to ensure government approved rates are strictly adhered to in the market.

The Chief Engineers of all the line departments and Health officials ensured during the meeting that they have made necessary preparations at their end. They informed that all the basic amenities like water and electricity and health facilities would be available readily on these holy occasions.

Ganai, who is also Chairman of Wakf Board, directed the Wakf officials to make elaborate arrangements for the easement of worshippers on Shab-i-Qadr and on Eid. He asked the concerned that the devotees should be facilitated every way so that they are able to pray without any difficulty.

The police administration apprised that traffic route plans and other security measures have been taken throughout the state for the upcoming festival.

Ganai directed the civil and police administration to work in coordination so that this festival is celebrated with great zeal and due religious fervour.
