Srinagar:  Former Minister and senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Naeem Akhtar has expressed serious concern over the snail’s pace of work going on over connectivity projects in north Kashmir’s Bandipora, urging governor administration to ensure the issue is addressed  on priority and without further delay.

While touring to different villages of Bandipora and interacting with people there on Saturday, Akhtar said that the pace of connectivity projects in the constituency is extremely slow and is adding to the  hardships of the people there.

He added that the previous government had sanctioned an estimated 156 crore rupees under different schemes, however, according the Akhtar, due to slow execution there are apprehensions that these vital projects may miss the set deadlines.

The PDP leader said that keeping in view the slow pace of work going on at present on main SafaPora-Bandipora road phase 2, the project wouldn’t get completed in December this year which was its deadline for completion.

Akhtar also raised the issue of Jawahar Navodya Vidyalaya, stating that while the governor administration last year itself assured people that the school will be made operational within stipulated time, its actual construction is yet to be taken up.

The PDP leader also requested Advisor Sharma to personally intervene so that the projects that have almost gone into limbo could be expedited.

Akhtar also urged him to visit the constituency to take stock of the works going on there.  Further, he demanded the post of Executive Engineer lying vacant in Bandipora should be filled and a suitable Engineer should be posted there at an earliest.
