Skandan visits State Emergency Operation Center at Humhama

SRINAGAR, MAY 30:  Advisor to Governor, K Skandan today visited State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC) at Humhama, Srinagar and took stock of the functioning of the center.

During his visit, the Advisor inspected the live streaming of disaster-prone areas in-and-around Dal Lake. Advisor Skandan was told that two high-resolution cameras have been mounted in Srinagar; one at Shankaracharya hill and another at Ram Munshi Bagh gauge to monitor incidents like drowning and water level in Jhelum river besides during other exigencies and emergencies in these areas. He was also informed that more such cameras will be installed at places like National Highway and other vulnerable areas.

The Advisor also inspected the rescue equipments of J&K State Disaster Response Force, National Disaster Response Force and Fire and Emergency Services. He inspected rescue equipments like Life Detectors, Thermal Imaging Cameras, Combination Cutter-cum-Spreader, Minirad Radiation Survey meter, etc.

The Advisor was accompanied by Secretary to Government Department of Disaster Management, P K Pole, Director Disaster Management and Nodal Officer SEOC, Aamir Ali, Additional Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Tehsildar Budgam, Vice Chairman L&WDA and other officers.

The Advisor was also briefed that SEOC has been set-up under a pilot project of NDMA that provides reliable telecommunication infrastructure and technical support for SEOC operations. He also visited the SEOC’s site while inspecting under construction blocks at the site.
