Army conducts drawing competition at Gurez Valley

Srinagar, May 30: A total of 170 children of various age groups from different schools of Gurez valley participated in the “Shina Drawing Competition” at Gurez Helipad, which was organised by Snow Leopard Brigade of Army.

Themed around ‘Shina Culture’, the Drawing Competition is an attempt to offer an insight of the indigenous Shina Culture and traditions to the school children and to promote tourism in Gurez Valley. The students were provided with colours, drawing sheets and other stationary for the competition.

Commander, Snow Leopard Brigade inaugurated the drawing competition in presence of various civil and military dignitaries. The jury to select the best drawing comprised of Deputy Commander, Snow Leopard Brigade, SDM, Gurez and teachers of various schools of the area. The prizes were given away by the Chief Guest to the best paintings in all categories.

In his address to the young students, the Chief Guest urged the budding painters to set a goal for themselves and work hard to achieve it. He also brought out that one of the strengths of our country is it being a rainbow of various cultures.
