 ‘Leaking water pipes damage roads in Sopore’

Sopore, May 29: Residents of Sopore town have alleged that Public Health Engineering (PHE) department has failed to repair the leaking water pipes at various places in the town which, according to them, are causing damage to the roads.

According to the residents, water pipe leakage can be witnessed all across the town but places located in the immediate vicinity of Tehsildar office Sopore, Police Station, Mainchowk, Noorbagh, Bus Stand are worst hit owing to the leakage.

“We have appraised the officials PHE department about the issue several times while advising them to bury the pipes underground but the department seems to be in deep slumber,” they added.

Kashmir Images learnt from reliable sources that PHE department division Sopore spends thousands of rupees on repairing of leaked pipes across town every year but the complaints raised by the local residents tells a different story.

Speaking to Kashmir Images Executive Engineer PHE Division Sopore, Mushtaq Ahmad Qazi, acknowledged the problem of water pipe leakage in sopore. “We will repair all leakages very soon,” Qazi said.
