 At least 1200 persons performing I’tikaf at Darul Uloom Raheemiya

BANDIPORA, May 28: At least 1200 persons from various parts of the valley and outside states are performing a joint Itikaaf at Darul Uloom Raheemiya Bandipora in North Kashmir.

Itikaaf is a spiritual retreat in a mosque, usually held during the last 10 days of Ramadan, during which Muslims spend the evening and night in the mosque devoting their time to solitary prayers and reading the Quran.

Speaking to Kashmir Images Molvi Fayaz, the management head at Darul Uloom Raheemiya, said: “At least 1200 persons including both youth and elderly hailing from different parts of Kashmir and outside states are performing I’tikaf this Ramadan.

“Around 290 plates (Tramees) of food are served both at Sehri and Iftar with costs of around Rs 30,000 per day,” Fayaz added.

Kashmir’s largest Islamic Seminary Darul Uloom Raheemiyya Bandipora, was established in September 1979. The seminary also now runs a private educational institution in Bandipora town as name “Faiz-i-Aam Public School.
